Worship his ancestors is a way to be sure that they will be always well disposed towards the family members, assist and protect them in the trials of life.
The ancestors are most often represented by a funeral tablet, which is a piece of wood carved with the name and the date of death of the person, but this selection of ancestor’s statuettes that we present is an exception: Dated XIX century, they come from the South of China and belonged to prestigious Hakka families, region of Fujian. The Hakkas from this area are the alone practicing the cult of the ancestors using statuettes. Only the ancestors which occupied of high functions(offices) in the state where represent as a statuette.
